London Fog Mug Blondies
Who doesn't love witty things written on mugs? They're great for gifts and if you find the right one it speaks to you and you have to have it. After making my London Fog Blondies I got to thinking that it would be super cute to continue the tea theme and make them into little mugs with tea-themed witty things written on them. This could also be done with espresso brownies with coffee-themed sayings. It depends what your cup of tea (or coffee) is.
First you need to make a batch of London Fog Blondies (or whatever iced blondie or brownie recipe you want if you're not a stickler about the theme part). Then take a look on Pinterest or Etsy and get some ideas for what you want to write on the mugs.
Once you have some ideas, go ahead and trace your cookie cutter and write out your sayings. I used this cookie cutter from Copper Gifts.
For decorating your blondies you'll need a small icing spatula, some toothpicks and some black icing fitted with a No. 1 decorating tip. I used pre-made black icing since making black icing can be kind of tricky and I wanted it to be true black.
Then you just cut out for shapes. I found that to get them out of the cookie cutter I had to wedge in the spatula in a couple places and kind of wiggle it and push it them out. If you mess up the frosting you can just use the same spatula to smooth it out (once you wipe off the crumbs of course).
Once you have all your mugs cut out, my recipe made 6, you trace out your sayings into to the frosting using a toothpick.
Then you just pipe on top of that and outline the mug shape.
If giving as a gift, complete it by throwing in some other tea-related things, like a tea towel and mug. Man, do I love themes!
Hello, is it tea you're looking for?
I can see it in your eyes. I can see it in your smile.
You're all I've ever wanted. And my arms are open wide.
Cause you know just what to say. And you know just want to do. And I want to tell you so much. I love you...
Okay, I'm done now. And I apologize for sticking that song in your head for the rest of the day.
